Post Body

I can only find surface level travel-related stuff online. I’m looking for in depth discussion on comparing the general culture, artistic and spiritual philosophy, “outlook,” etc. I want to know what interplay occurs between ideals and the outer culture. what do they value that causes their architecture, language, religion, norms, and art to appear as it does? why and in what ways do china and japan differ? i am always looking for theoretical discussion like this but i am always frustrated. is there a name for this field? it’s more abstract and thoughtful. it’s driving me nuts that i can never find others asking “why” something is the way it is, on a deeper level.
