Am asking in the context of modern technologies. The more towards west you go, the more apparent an additional layer of reality becomes. People are ''wired in'' 24/7 through their usage of phones that often never get turned off. First thing many people check in the morning is the email, the last thing - someone elses GFs buttocks on Instagram. In some professions, you could be called for work during middle of the night. It wasn''t the case 1 generation ago. You are ''by default'' required not to go off grid. Tik Tok might as well be its own pocket universe. In modern times, to become a ''hermit'' you dont have to move to a remote woods area. You just turn off your phone and are essentially invisible. How mind bending is that?
Please tell me theres something like this already out there! Bonus points for any literature on ''off grid'', but very modern/urban small societies/subcultures?
