Why did we develop a social hierarchy and not complete freedom? For survival? And if so, was it survival against the elements, predators, conflict?
After watching Chimps conduct 'warfare' against rival groups I am wondering if such conflict was heavily involved in developing a complex hierarchy. What might have started with survival against the elements, predators became survival against warring factions with society conducted such that subjugation and roles were required to become more effective?
Currently working on some political philosophy and this might be relevant. "Once people's are accustomed to masters, they are no longer in a position to get along without them." So there must have been some good original reasons freely give away our freedom. And in all honesty leaving the military was difficult for precisely the reason given in that quote.
Cheers!
