Why do we get emotional over fictional stories?
Post Body

Are there any reasons/theories behind this kind of behavior? I find it weird we know a story is completely made up, set in a weird world and the characters are played by actors we've seen play many other roles. Yet we will still get attached and upset despite knowing they don't exist and what happened never really happened. On top of that we can read many real life sad stories in the paper, watch the news, or read a biography and hardly feel as much as emotion as we do fictional stories.
