Prompted by Chinese claims of 5.000 years of unbroken cultural continuity, and how this assertion must be taken with a pinch of salt, I turned to tacos de sal. I think nixtamalization is about 3,000 years old, but how could it be established how old tortillas are? And how did households store salt?
