In email contact prior to an upcoming appt, the provider I am going to see shared her practices when it comes to safe sex (her STI testing schedule the fact that she requires barriers for everything). I am totally fine with using barriers, but when I went to go check when my last STI panel was so that I could provide her with similar reassurance, I found that it was nearly 2 years ago! š¤¦āāļø
I take my health seriously and use protection myself, but I hadnāt realized it had been that long since my last panel.
I have scheduled myself with a clinic to get testing done, but I donāt know how likely it is that my results will be back before my date with her. Should I reschedule?
For clarity, she didnāt ask when my last test was or how often I get tested ā she just provided her own info. I just feel bad that I canāt offer her the same reassurance.
Edit:
For folks saying to test after every encounter, how is an āencounterā defined?
So hereās my situation:
I had been on a schedule of testing every 6 months since going non-monogamous in 2017. However, I have only had the same 3 long-term committed partners during that time. So since my last test result in 2022, I havenāt had any new partners (except the escort I met with a few weeks ago for one date, but we only did kissing and hand stuff) ā but, obviously, I have had sex with them many times in that span.
So when you say āencounterā do you mean every time you have sex? Or every new partner?
