I am an American just got a job offer to work at a camp in the bush in January. Where I live in January and February it’s quite cold. The job requires working long days and/ or early mornings it swip swaps. It also requires being in charge of high ropes courses and Children. I have worked with youth for years but not been certified to do high ropes which makes me nervous, living out in the bush makes me nervous, living so far away from home makes me kinda nervous not too bad, but really nervous about the insects, spiders, snakes apparently magpies. I don’t have a phobia of snakes and spiders but anything that can kill you and spider that is the size of your head. But how often do you see them including out at this camp in the bush? What’s the weather like? Is it scary with the insects and snakes? Is it overall worth it with the flight costs distance and all. What things should I know? Below is a list of pros and cons.
Pros: 1. I’ve always wanted to travel to Australia (also NZ) 2. It’s a job 3. It’s a job that pays well 4. It sounds and can be fun 5. It’s not far from Sydney and I have friends in Sydney and Melbourne 6. My friends and family support me 7. Warm beachy summer oppose to cold here 8. Close to NZ kinda and Japan kinda 9. People are very friendly 10. Do you have good beer? (More of a question before it becomes a pro. 11. Big pro it is only temporary
Cons: 1. It’s far but not too far but not like the UK or Europe (cheaper to fly home from Europe than Aussie) 2. Bugs, spiders, insects, snakes, bats, magpies, scary big big con 3. Heat or humid (does it get humid?) 4. Don’t officially get the job until being there 5. Not sure about the visa stuff can be complicated not sure
