Buying tobacco online for visiting relatives?

Hello!
- Please kindly don't use this post as an excuse to bash on smokers, i don't smoke but I have some rellos visiting who do smoke. It is what it is -
They're visiting for two weeks in March for family stuff. It's exorbitantly expensive to buy smokes here in Australia soooo I'm wondering if anyone has experience buying tobacco online?
I have been doing some reading and am mighty confused. Looks like you can buy 25 cigarettes online and ship them here? is that right?
What happens if it gets seized by customs? Do you get a fine? Or just loose the cigarettes?
