I wonder if I'm on my own here... I follow what's going on in the US, not because I have a vested emotional or material interest, but because it's entertaining.
The best I can compare it to is watching Big Brother. I have opinions, and people I like, and people I don't like. But I am highly concious that I'm only getting to see a small clip of what is actually going on.
I've had a chat with a couple of people in AUS about what is going on and they want to fight about Trump/Biden and the overturning of Roe v Wade, etc. and they get so emotional about it.
Any insight on why Australians get so emotionally invested in American politics?
Edit for clarity: I am an Australian. I don't have a vested interest in the US, just follow for a laugh. Have spoken woth more and more Aussies recently that get really wound up over it though, which confuses me.
