Alice Springs Safe places to Live 3 to 6 Months

I've accepted a job in Alice Springs knowing full well what the ABC 24 news cycle is showing of the area. I imagine thats why the role of this job is always open, my question is despite all this, where is safest place to live? I plan on travelling to and from the airport and no where else
