How open is Australia accepting immigrants/ international students?

Post Body

I’m an Indian international student here for a temporary period. I feel judged when I step out of the house, as if I’m not accepted or welcomed. Is it just my social anxiety, or is it true that Indians are looked at as inferior? Do most people have a problem with people coming to Australia? I feel more comfortable with other ethnic groups. I come from a wealthy background and, honestly, I was in my cocoon back home, so I’m very new to the concept of racism. Are people generally welcoming, open-minded, and respectful? Or does everyone want to dance on my head because of my skin color? I don’t want to form any opinions until I make more white friends. Also, let me know how to socialize and how I can accept and explore Aussie culture. Or are people just very reserved and don’t socialize?

I haven’t experienced racism, but this one time, a drunk tradie told me, “You come to Australia and speak English, fuck off.” Haha, I found it funny. I was like, dude, get your life together! Go support a political party that aligns with your agenda. Attacking international students won’t help.
