People that don’t keep left unless overtaking; why?

Surely it is common knowledge by now to keep left unless you’re overtaking another vehicle. Then when you’re done overtaking, you move back into the left lane.
People that drive in the right lane, or the middle lane of a 3 lane highway, why do you do it?
