With the future being apartments, I feel like we are losing a lot of things. So many activities will be deemed too loud or isn't possible due to space restrictions in the era of apartments. PEOPLE complain about stomping in apartments and tell patrons to walk slower.
- kids won't be able to fix up cars with a hoist etc..
- Want to sing? Nope.
- Or play a violin? Nope. You need to rent a musical practice place.
- Maybe build or hammer something? Nope.
- Even playing music in your own room with a little sub woofer, nope. Karaoke in your own place, ? nope Too loud.
- Want to have a swim at your own place in summer with privacy? Nope.
I grew up with these experiences and I loved it. Many previous generations of Aussies were able to have this lovely experience of having a pool in the backyard or just being able to build something or play a violin without someone complaining.
I feel like this is not a NIMBY or YIMBY issue but rather a want to just keep those experiences for their kids. I know so many kids that WANT to learn an instrument but can't as its too loud for their apartment. They can't even build something in the small "garden" in the apartment village as it annoys so many neighbours.
