Is there any chance I could ever earn $100k a year?
Post Body

I’m currently working as a Pest Control Technician, and have been since December ‘22. With overtime, I’m probably going to be between $65k-$70k in my first full tax year in the job. I want to set myself a 5 year goal of hitting the $100k a year mark, but I’m not sure if it’s possible. I’m nearly 34 and don’t have any qualifications. I came into Pest Control from being a Concrete Labourer, and before that the majority of my working life has been spent in hospitality. I don’t really have the luxury of time or money to obtain a qualification in anything, so I don’t think the $100k is ever going to happen for me. Has anyone here ever hit that mark from a similar situation to myself? Or does anyone have any tips?

Comments

I landed in insurance because I needed a job to lay my rent. I was earning $40k/year. I have no formal qualifications. 15 years later and I’m now earning $225k/year plus 30% bonus. There are well paying jobs out there for people without a tertiary education.
