Do Americans care about their national teams in team sports?

Post Body

Some team sports who are relatively common in the US (and where World Cups, Olympics etc exist) are:

  • Hockey
  • Basketball
  • Soccer
  • Volleyball
  • maybe more (I don’t know)

But I get the feeling that (other than the rest of the world), Americans aren’t very interested in their own national teams in team sports on the global stage, when World Cups etc take place.

Is that true? If so, why don’t Americans get enthusiastic about their national teams?
