Are there any higher education professional staff on here? I have a question: Is there any way to advance in the field besides getting a doctorate?

I just really don’t want to do that.

I have golden handcuffs because I am paid pretty well and there’s no room for advancement at my institution without getting a doctorate in education. So essentially I am stuck. Any new positions that open pay less than I make.

Is it time to go back to school or switch to a career outside of higher education?
