What happens to funding if I drop out of my Master's?

Post Body

Hi there,

I'm looking for advice for a friend. They're currently in their first year in a Master's degree at a university in Ontario, Canada and have come to the realization that it is not at all what they've wanted to do. They've received a standard grant from the university to pay for tuition and a little extra for living expenses. What would happen if they were to drop out now, in their second semester, regarding financing? Would the grant money have to be paid back, or would installments of the grant simply stop coming?

Thanks!
