Hi folks!
So, I've nearly reached the top of the summit, and have funding secured for a minimum of two years with pre-doctoral collaboration for the next six months and 18 months of post-doc funding after that. Exciting times! I've managed to negotiate working remotely for these opportunities, and will be finishing up my dissertation this summer/fall, and taking on the post-doc responsibilities in January.
However, since I'm going to be doing all of this from home, I was hoping you all had some advice. I know the standard "make a designated work space," kinds of things, but do any of you all regularly work from home, and what are some more esoteric things you do to stay on track and manage life? My job(s) will primarily be writing, data analysis, Skype/phone calls for mentoring and networking connections, and otherwise sitting in front of a computer for 8 hours a day. I will note that I am fortunate to have mentors who are very understanding of work-life balance, so I'm not really concerned about being stuck in slave labor for the next two years.
Tips. Bring them (please). Anything you have for productivity/apps/workspace organization/clocking hours would be extremely helpful. As the flair says, I'm in psych research.
