PhD interview questions
Post Body

Just about everyone in this sub has at point or another been, or is trying to get recruited to a graduate school position. In the UK at least this is generally done by interview. I thought it might be useful or at least interesting to get a feel for what techniques people use.

Subject specific questions aside, what are the best questions you have asked or been asked? Which questions do you feel are effective at getting to the core of whether a potential student is right for a PhD generally, or yours in particular? Which questions didn't work? What were the best and worst responses you've seen or given? What questions do you dread being asked?
