Do I cite a news event/facts (political news, government announcements)?

Post Body

Hi! I'm an undergraduate student and I'm currently writing a paper for my IR class, and I was wondering if I should cite political news/events. For example for this: https://www.khmertimeskh.com/501497526/pm-announces-the-funan-techo-canal-project-will-commence-in-august-2024/

If I were to write: "The Royal Government of Cambodia approved the Funan Techo Canal Project in April 2024 *insert footnote*". Or when I'm listing 4-5 events like: "Cambodia has established a strategic partnership with X country in 2020 *insert footnote* and upgraded its partnership with Japan to a comprehensive partnership in 2023 *insert footnote*", do I have to cite a newspiece or government annoucement reporting each of those events?

I hope my explanation makes sense. My professor hasn't been responding to my emails, so any tips would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
