Should I stated a previous preprint as prior publication when submitting the article for publication in a journal?

Post Body

Hello everyone, I am submitting my manuscript for review and publication to a journal and they are asking me to state any prior publication or presentations in a conference or seminar where my work was involved. I submitted a preprint version of this manuscript on MedRxiv, I didn't know at the time whether preprints could impact my paper's publication in the future.

I would appreciate any information on whether I should state my preprint as prior publication? I would also appreciate any information on whether this could impact the publication of my work if I state that it has been involved in a prior publication (in this case a preprint)?

Thank you very much in advance.
