Hi

I have graduated a Polish university called "Polish-Japanese Academy of Informaton Technology", one of the best ones in that field in Poland

What does the diploma say?
My diploma states that I have graduated in the field of "Information technology"

Why do I have an issue with that?
If you google "polish-japanese academy of information technology information technology" you will get the home page, however if you replace the field with "Computer science" you will get a page describing these studies, it even says there "It*(the university)* offers computer science studies in Polish and English"

The term "Computer Science" was used everywhere, every single time throughout the whole studies. On the website for students, by the dean's office in their announcement emails, by teachers - everywhere

The first time I saw "Information Technology" was on my diploma, when I finally got it. Me and my 2 friends (who were A students from semester 1, unlike me) were all shocked at that

What was the universty's response to this "issue"?
I emailed the dean's office about it, here is the response translated by me:"Information Technology is the official English name used since the establishment of our university. This name is correct, just as Computer Science is"

I think this is implying that "Computer Science" === "Information Technology", which afaik internationally isn't true - which is why there are a lot of threads about "CS vs IT"

Why am I making this post?
I feel mildly scammed, though it's still a degree of course. I am not expecting them to change the title or anything, it is likely not even possible

I think for now I just kind of want some "outside world" feedback on the matter, because them literally advertising these studies as Computer Science feels shady given this is not what you get a diploma for

I believe that there is no international list of subjects for Computer Science studies, so I can't pull up to them like "well um achktully the course list aligns with CS more than with IT, therefore you gave me an incorrect diploma". However if I am wrong on that I would appreciate if you let me know, then I'd push the dean's office - just to see what would happen, if nothing else
