Currently employed as part of a small research team in an organisation. We are conducting a project that is due to be published very shortly. Long story short- I was listed as one of the co-authors of this report, but just noticed in the last few days that my name has been removed and replaced by someone else in a management position who didn't contribute. There was no communication about this with myself.
To sum up my role, I have been actively involved in this project for the last 12 months. When I came in, I missed out on all the prior funding applications and initial discussions around the methodology to use, how to collect data etc. When I joined there was no more than a few hundred words of an introduction done. I was delegated over various pieces of the literature review and background chapters to work on. It has to be said that obviously these parts I worked on were heavily edited in the months after, but I still feel like I contributed to the ground work for these sections. I also was responsible for creating all visual illustrations for any data that was discussed in these sections-tables, bar charts, processes etc. A lot of these illustrations required me to go about summarising the data myself, it wasn't a case of the data being handed over to me and I just pasted it into a bar chart. I also designed the questions to be used for the interviews during the data collection phase. I did not however take part in the data collection myself. Once this data was collected, I transcribed all the data, before handing it over to the PI for analysis. I didn't contribute to writing up the results section. I also provided various administrative tasks throughout, including witting the abstract, table of contents, formatting the references, page numbers.
Am I in a position where I should feel a bit frustrated about not receiving any recognition for my work? What annoys me more is that I was replaced by someone who didn't contribute AT ALL and that there was ZERO communication as to why I was removed. Please give me advice on how to go about this situation
TL;dr: unexpectedly removed as a Co author for a study. I contributed to early literature review and background context pieces. These were obviously edited since but still feel like I payed the ground work. I also produced all tables, graphs, illustrations. Replaced with someone who didn't contribute at all. Should I feel annoyed?
