Postdoc PIs and advisors, what do you hope to see as a late-stage PhD student transitioning to a postdoc?
Post Body

I'm searching for postdocs to start next summer and things have (fortunately) been going well in my search thus far. I consider myself lucky to have had a productive PhD as a result of having wonderful colleagues to learn from at the initial stages of my PhD. I'm now in the process of drafting some fellowship and grant proposals with my prospective postdoc advisors.

This got me wondering: what are some qualities/traits that postdoc PIs and advisors hope to see as I transit from a late-stage PhD student finishing up in my current lab, to becoming a postdoc in their labs? I have intentions to apply to TT lines after 2-3 years of postdoc.

I'm trying to gather opinions as I prepare for this transition. Thanks everyone for chiming in!
