Hi all,
I'm in Australia and looking to work in an academic role overseas.
I've recently completed my PhD in Media and Communication/Journalism. For the last 6 years to make money, I have been tutoring and freelancing as a journalist. I recently started lecturing at quite a prestigious University in Australia... but my world is feeling a little small and I'm looking to branch out and get some experience overseas.
Not sure what its like in Europe/the US, but in Australia, Universities employ academics on a sessional basis, meaning that you are paid casually/per lecture/seminar. The work is semester-based and you get a pretty nice hourly rate. Its suitable for people like me who like to jump around and try different things. I am wondering whether the US/Europe have the option to apply for sessional roles like this?
Any advice/ideas about applying for academic roles in either Europe or the US would be hugely appreciated. Tbh I'm open to anything, even if its not necessarily academic but more journalism focussed. I've been engulfed in my PhD/academic life here and craving something new.
Thanks
