How do you feel about French people?

The three cultures I absolutely love as an American are French and Russian (also Japanese).

I always like to think Russians and French people are similar in ways (not superficial and direct, proud of their country and culture in general, basically the power house of the East and West of Europe culturally). I know both cultures would heavily disagree.

I have a two French friends and one said he wouldn't travel to Russia because a Frenchman in Russia is an easy target and he would be scared - the other once said he hates being pale because he felt he looked like a Russian.
