Post Body

I am planning a trip in a few years (probably late fall 2022) that I would begin in Dublin, Ireland and end in Jakarta, Indonesia without using any flights. A chunk of my journey would be in Russia starting off with St.Petersburg then stopping in Omsk (to visit Kazakstan) then stopping in Novosibirsk (possibly), Irkutsk and leaving to go to Mongolia and China. I have a few questions since I am doing this completely by myself.

  • Should I just plan the entire thing out beforehand (for example St.Petersburg>Moscow>Omsk>Nur-Sultan>Omsk>Novosibirsk>Irkutsk) OR plan as I go?
  • Is bringing my own food a good idea?
  • Are Russian people (in general) into having conversations to pass the time?
  • Should I learn basic Russian before hand?
  • What are some things I should watch out for?
  • Any other cities I should consider?
  • 1st, 2nd or 3rd class?
  • How packed will it be in December/January?

These are basic questions but if honestly have any other advice please don't hesitate!
