Would you be friends with a gay person?

As a gay guy who like Russian culture I understand Russia isn’t super homophobic and people aren’t killing them there. I do know gay people face problems and it’s a more a conservative society.
I never looked at Russians less because I know this doesn’t represent them absolutely.
I want to ask and please give me your honest answer to why you would or wouldn’t befriend a gay person.
Or why you just don’t care.
