Tell me about the divorce laws in the 1980s

Hello all. I'm writing a novel based in the 1980s. One of the characters is a Russian lad going through a divorce. Please tell me what laws existed then. Was it easy to get a divorce? How were the assets divided? What about alimony? Did the wife get half of everything? Note: there are no children involved but there is considerable family money.
