Looking for shops that sell prepackaged dried/smoked "exotic" meats (no refrigeration needed), preferably in the vicinity of Vnukovo airport. SW of the city.
Visiting for two weeks from US, and I've been trying to think of relatively inexpensive gifts I can bring back for friends and coworkers ($10-$20). In a mall in St Petersburg, I stumbled across dried/smoked bear and beaver meat. I would have cleared them out, but I have a much lower weight limit from Petersburg than I will heading home from Moscow.
I tried a few google searches, but I don't know what the right terms are. Plus, what is "exotic" to me might not be exotic to Russians.
Bear and beaver would do fine, though in a previous post on exotic meat in general someone mentioned muskrat. Which does not sound appetizing, but that isn't the point. Being able to say, "I ate muskrat once" is what is important.
Being in a sealed package with a professional label is apparently important for getting it back through customs.
Thanks!
