Would relationships between everyday Russians and Ukrainians be more nuanced, had social media sites (like VK) not been banned?

I read that social media sites (like VK and others) apparently became increasingly anti-Ukraine when Ukraine banned Russian social media sites years ago.

Obviously, there's an elephant in the room here. I'm not saying it would've stopped anything. But do you think it's played a role in dissolving relationships?

Edit: I'm a foreigner. I may be missing context.
