How F***** Am I?

Just started my car and saw a red oil light appear on my dash. When I turned my car off I checked my engine oil, and saw a sufficient amount in the engine. The car is roughly 11 years old which could point to a faulty sensor as I have had issues with faulty check engine lights and brake lights in the past.
I’m afraid to turn the car back on as I don’t want to cause any issues to the engine.
