How to remove adapter for wiper blade?

See photos. Trying to replace the wiper blades on my 2007 VW Jetta but it looks like the metal of the adapter is wrapped around the blade itself and can't be removed without breaking the adapter. Am I missing something or do I need to buy new blades with a new adapter?
Photos are of the stock blades for a 2007 VW Jetta, never been replaced before. Tysm.
