I could use some help. I have a 2014 Ford Mustang (40k miles) and after getting a tire rotation done recently (along with an oil change and fluid top-off), I’ve noticed a few odd things such as slow coasting when I let off the gas. I took the car back in for a second check, and they put the rotated wheels back in their original spots, so it’s not the tire rotation causing the issue. Here’s what I’ve been noticing:
• Slow coasting: When I let off the gas, the car coasts way slower than usual, almost like it’s being pulled back.
• Rubber smell: Sometimes after driving, I can smell something like burning rubber. It’s not all the time, but I’ve noticed it a few times.
• Brake dust: One or two of my wheels might have more brake dust than usual, but I’m not totally sure if I’m imagining it or if it’s actually a lot more.
• No noise: There’s no weird grinding or squeaking, so I’m not sure if it’s a brake issue.
I’m wondering if this could be brake drag, where the brake pads stay in contact with the rotors? Could this have happened because of the oil change, fluid top-off, or something else? Or is there something else I should be worried about?
tl;dr Slow coasting after Tire Rotation - Any ideas what’s going on?
