Does temperature affect your engine oil choice?
Post Body

I am about to do an oil change on a new to me, Subaru Outback 2010. The manual states the preferred oil is 5w30, but other oils can be used in different ambient temps. It’s currently summer where I am with temps regularly over 30c. I have some 10w40 already for another car and am now wondering if this would be a decent option given the current temps. I can also change back to a 5w30 oil at the next oil change as it will be winter then.

I can also continue to stick with a 5w30 if that’s the preference and will perform the best.

Thanks in advance for the advice
