Hello everyone. I have a 2002 mercury stable GS with about 70,000 miles. A few days ago I replaced the battery, the alternator and the starter. The car was running fine and everything was fine. Then today when I was on my lunch break when I turned on the ignition, it seemed like the car lost power for about a second and then I heard a scraping noise and the car just started up like normal. I went back to work very concerned. I turned it over a few more times before I went back in, and the car started up normally. After work when I turned on the ignition once again, the car started up normally. I stopped at the gas station to get some gas and I added a bottle of yellow heet. Once again, the car started up fine then I went back home before turning it over a couple of more times and everything was normal again.
But my question is what was that brief loss of power and scraping noise? Was it just a one time isolated incident? I have a brand new battery, starter, alternator so I’m not sure if there’s an issue. But what more can it be? But should I be concerned? What do you think it could possibly be? I put so much into this car already who knows if there’s anything else that’s wrong with it unless it was a one time thing.
