My understanding of the initial issue is sometimes when the battery dies it triggers the anti-theft. Thankfully when my battery finally died it was in the garage. I swapped in a new battery and it still won't start and gives me the same "service anti theft" light. I use my googlefu and it seems like a common issue and requires me to take 30 minutes of turning it on and off to reboot it. Here's where things get strange. Nothing I did work. I bought 2 new fobs about 5 years ago (I've had the car since new) to replace a lost one and the other one I had on hand broke where you flip the key part out. No issue with these fobs at all until today. Nothing works but I did out the original key and viola!!! It starts with no issues. I pull the old broken key out and try with the newer key and it will start but now I have the anti theft warning back on the dash. Worse after driving the car for a bit I then need to revert to starting the car with the old key because it won't start with the newer key. I have no idea what I can do at this point to clear this issue with the newer fobs. I really don't want to use the old key at all but that's the only one currently that will reliably start the car and give me no codes on the dash.
TLDR. Have 3 key fobs, only oldest most broken one will start the car. 2 newer ones throw an anti theft fault.
