How come it’s tough to get hired for jobs?
Post Body

The current market stinks right now. I had two interviews in the past week and they both ghosted me. One of them said I seemed disinterested even though I responded to their email about being interested in wanting to have a final interview.

While I’ve been applying to canvassing or phone banking jobs that run thru November, I’ve also been looking at volunteer work in my field (politics) just to keep myself busy even if I do get a job. I’m sure I’ll find something soon but to say it’s frustrating is a massive understatement.

Sometimes most of the jobs I’ve interviewed or applied for aren’t even in my field and require no experience but I still don’t get hired. My family’s hit me with the classic “work at a fast food place” but the pattern I’m seeing is that almost everyone I know from college is running into the problem of having to take those same jobs that could leave them underemployed a few years from now. I wish something could be done to improve the market or at least hold employers accountable for being greedy but it’s probably an pipe dream imo
