The impetus for the question was a heavily upvoted comment (50 ) that suggested the Inflation Reduction Act was responsible for the reduction in inflation we've seen, which respected academics (and Biden himself) agree is not the case (list of articles at the bottom). I'm trying to understand if support for that stems from (1) people actually believing that to be true (misinformed), or (2) people supporting intellectually dishonest arguments so long as they shed a positive light on Biden/dems.
From wikipedia on Intellectual Honesty:
Intellectual Honesty combines good faith with a primary motivation toward seeking true beliefs.
- Ensuring support for chosen ideologies does not interfere with the pursuit of truth;
- Relevant facts and information are not purposefully omitted even when such things may contradict one's hypothesis;
- Facts are presented in an unbiased manner, and not twisted to give misleading impressions or to support one view over another;
