2024; Remake of 2016 Thanks to the Media
Post Body
I have been having some really bad thoughts lately that the upcoming election for president is going to be a reboot of 2016, where either Trump or Ramaswamy will win reelection
- I fear the media has not learned its lesson from 2016 and will continue to give the candidates who say the most outlandish things (Trump and Ramaswamy) more and more air time. This was proven to be a fatal flaw in the media's coverage of 2016.
- Biden's presidency is doing well but not getting a lot of positive media coverage. Obama had his successes and HIlary Clinton while horribly flawed, had her strenghts, but still lost because how her campaign failed to focus on that she lost to a candidate who should not have gained power.
- 2016 was thought of as the year of the outsider. People for years prior to the election thought of and complained how they wanted someone who was not a politican and spoke their mind in office. Hence Trump won. Now we are the year of the young person where people are saying they want a young person in office. Easy victory for a Ramaswamy in office.
- Popular populism. 2016, the book Hillbilly Elgy became incredibly popular especially among conservatives and people feeling frustrated with the economic status quo. 2024, the song Rich Men North of Richmond is becoming a popular form of entertainment for white working class voters. Same populist message in a lot of ways Liberal apathy and elitism. Okay, lets be honest, there is a breed of white educated liberal who sometimes acts a little too high and mighty and ignore signs or red flags that they need to keep an eye on. That happened in 2016 and I am getting the vibe it is happening again in 2024.
