The lead mod - who only participates in the sub via validating flairs and has no legal background and is just an insurance professional - is mad that I’ve repeatedly asked him to step down from the role so that I and the other active mod can actually work to sort out the sub.
When I came on there were two months of unmoderated posts in the queue. Just actively ignored. All this mod had done is assign flairs to whatever evidence people sent via mod mailthat they were a lawyer. This mod has no interest in moderation and just seems to want to squat on the lead mod role for giggles. I’ve repeated asked to re-write the rules so that they are coherent and make sense. He refuses.
Now, he wants to take a month to resign from the sub for reasons I can’t comprehend while bringing in 9-15 random people to mod. He doesn’t even ask the sub he is resigning from who should mod.
There is 0 reason that user should be a mod of this sub.
Now he is going to counter that I’m rude to people and don’t act like a call center agent. That’s true. I am rude and terse here. It’s how you need to be in this role to deal with bad actors. It’s the internet. It’s been like this since the 90s. It’s irrelevant. He going to claim I violated “Reddit norms”, whatever that means.
Basically, you shouldn’t have faith that the lawyers here are validated to any real standard by a qualified person. I also know this because I was assigned the lawyer flair for a long time despite never asking for it or providing any evidence to validate it against. I removed it when I became a mod.
I’ve been very open and honest on this sub and how I interact with everything.
MTG, you need to leave this sub. You have no right to have the power here. Either that or justify to the public why you are the best person available for run this. (He has it because it was abandoned and he asked Reddit for it - that’s his claim to legitimacy here)
I fully expect him to ban me - someone who is able, willing and actively contributes to the sub - because he’d rather be a petty tyrant and sit on the throne nobody knows he sits on.

update: he backed down on transferring power to Athena because ??? And Athena has stepped down.
this lead mod is not acting in this subs best interest. He is once again more interested in being the lead mod (that nobody knows) than letting people we are willing and able to manage the sub. He’s the one that introduced Athena and I, too. There is no conspiracy here: we just see the incompetence here.
Also, if I’ve violated Reddit norms and mod code of conduct - show us the reports. I’ve never had action against me from Reddit. If I was violating the mod code of conduct, why were you not reporting me to Reddit?
Step down, mtmag_dev52 - or explain yourself. Explain explain why you’d rather the 2 active mods go away and the 2 inactive mods should stay. Explain how you are acting in the best interests of the sub by taking out the active mods who disagree with you just so you can be the lead mod and gatekeep (more like just stand in a busy doorway) of the good operation of this sub.
why you are the one who is fit to lead this sub? —-__________________________________________
I am specifically calling you out as violating the Mod Code of Conduct, rule 4:
https://www.redditinc.com/policies/moderator-code-of-conduct
Rule 4: Be Active and Engaged
Whether your community is big or small, it is important for communities to be actively and consistently moderated. This will ensure that issues are being addressed, and that redditors feel safe as a result. Being active and engaged means that:
You have enough Mods to effectively and consistently manage your community. This involves regularly monitoring and addressing content in ModQueue and ModMail and, if possible, actively engaging with your community via posts, comments, and voting.
You do not actively engage in the community via posts, comments, and voting nor have you allowed the mods to effectively moderate the mod queue and mod mail, and you are personally derelict in your duty to those.
Camping or sitting on a community is not encouraged. If a community has been empty or unmoderated for a significant amount of time, we will consider banning or restricting the community. If a user requests a takeover of a community that falls under either category, we will consider granting that request but will, in nearly all cases, attempt to reach out to the moderator team first to discuss their intentions for the community.
You are camping and sitting in the community to the detriment of the sub.
