I will be contacting legal aid here in LA next week. But basically, a company bought the apartments where my parents lived. They lived there since I was three (grew up there). My mom recently passed and it’s just been my dad. I’m trying to move back in to care for him. I talked to one of the main guys of the company and he said I can’t be added to the lease and that technically my dad wasn’t on the lease. We went through a lot of managers so idk if the paperwork was lost but he told me basically he’s “not an asshole” so he hasn’t kicked out my dad since he wasn’t on the lease.

He told me I can’t be added to the lease cause there is “no lease” because my mom passed but I can be added more like some authorized person to live there. I feel this is wrong. He said he’s going to talk to his “lawyer”. Note my dad has lived there for 30 years.
