I’m hoping a lawyer or somebody that knows the laws can answer this. My next door neighbor recently installed a motion security camera facing directly into my backyard. It doesn’t even show any part of their yard. They installed a privacy fence a few years ago because we both have dogs who always barked at each other. We don’t like each other and don’t get along at all. They have done so many things towards my family like throw rocks at my dog which the police wanted to place a warrant for that guys arrest which I declined to not escalate things further. But do they have the right to film my backyard? One would think that everyone has an expectation to their privacy, especially in their backyard.
People that told me to start running around naked and fooling around with my spouse since it’s my backyard and I can do whatever I want. The problem is, I don’t want them to have me on camera or doing adult activities. Then people have said if they do catch you on camera and they post anything online, I can automatically sue them. Also, I don’t know if I could get arrested for doing that. I read a story online about someone’s similar experience and she said that she was dancing naked on top of her garage and that the neighbors who were recording her and they called the police and when they came over they didn’t do anything about it. I live in Chicago Illinois and the last year are wishy-washy. Can anyone help with any legal advice and if I have any rights?
