Post Body

Greetings! I work for a remote branch of a tech support company. My Employer is under contract by the Client.

As part of my compensation, I receive 15 days PTO and 2.5 paid sick days. In Michigan we have "Michigan Sick Time" (MiST) which on my paycheck says I have 40 hours available.

When I tried to use some of the MiST, my Employer informed me that since I received 2.5 Sick days I would not be able to use MiST.

Moreover, people in other roles that don't include paid sick time are also not able to use the MiST. My Employer says this is because those individuals have 5 days of Unpaid Time Off permitted.

I'm going to be asking my employer questions about this policy and I'm hoping for some advice. For me it seems like we should be able to take advantage of MiST after we've used our available PTO/Paid Sick time.

But I'm not a lawyer, so I found this sub.
