Edit: I Am in Florida and the estate is in Ohio.

My mom passed away almost two years ago and everything went to my step dad. He just passed away two days ago and had no will. He also has a biological son. The biological son hasn’t been the best we will say. A member of my step dad’s family said I should get a lawyer and not let his son take everything. I am not sure how that works or what kind of lawyer I should talk to. I don’t know how much money or the estate is worth. How do I go about handling this. When my mom passed my step dad said that he wanted everything split between me and his son but his death was unexpected and he had not done the will yet. Please advise what I should do. Thank you.
