I have had an ongoing debate with myself as to what to do about an ex employer. I was a manager in a construction company. My employer didn't know that I was in recovery. But during my time there I relapsed and fell back into active addiction. When my boss found out, instead of confronting me or having me drug tested he began a program of trying to get me to quit. He had his CFO contradict every inventory count, tried to demote me " without demoting me. They decided that I needed to pay extra child support, when I was strapped financially, they did this without telling me. I went to a re-hab and they turned off my insurance. The CFO went to a local store where we had a credit account that my name was on, bought items signed my name to the invoice, then accused me of buying unapproved items and repremended me. When we enrolled for insurance at the end of the year one of the office people sent me a spreadsheet the showed my insurance premiums were the highest in the company. I did some construction work on the side that he agreed to pay me for, when I turned in the invoice he refused to pay it.These are just a few things that I dealt with before I did quit because of the toxic environment and stress. There is a lot more to this story but that's what I'm willing to share for now.
