I’m looking into German-language music for a gathering I’m getting together, and just in general really. I’m particularly interested in old-timey jazz artists for this gathering, similar to Frank Sinatra, Billie Holliday, and others from the ‘40s and ‘50s in the US, or possibly the German equivalent(s) of Edith Piaf with her chansons.

Alternatively, I’m willing to hear about any of your favorite German artists in any genre. I like the band Nena from the ‘80s, and I know some rock/heavy metal bands like Rammstein that are relatively popular in the US as well.
