Non-EU passport renewal (while passport has not expired yet), how does that work?

Post Body

I want to renew my non-EU passport which is tied to my work visa (and thus my residency permit card) before it expires in early 2025. The reason for that is that I'm expected to receive my permanent residency card (niederlassungserlaubnis) in 2024 and I don't want to have to go through the annoying process of redoing a new card after just one year later because my passport will have expired. Here's the problem though: My current residency card is tied to my passport and therefore has a passport serial number. If I renew my current passport, I will get a new serial number so I don't know how that can affect what's on my residency permit card which will no longer be valid after a new passport is issued. My current passport expires in January 2025, I'm supposed to get my permanent residency (niederlassungserlaubnis) sometime between February and July 2024 and my current residency permit card expires in February 2024. My work contract is unlimited though tied to my work visa which is issued through my residency permit card where my passport's serial number appears.
