How do I become a data recovery tech?

Hey all, I'd really like to get out of my current job that I've been in for the last decade and I'm pretty interested in becoming a data recovery tech.
I've had a quick look around and I can never find any jobs going, would it be safe to assume that my best bet would be to start my own business?
