There’s “the face of a lion on the right side” and “the face an ox on the left side.”
I’ve seen artists depictions of these, and there’s been depictions of either or.
I guess you could relate my confusion similar to “‘stage right’ is actually on the left to the [non-acting] observer.” I feel there’s a case of that going on here.
So, let’s just isolate one of the figures and go with the lion. Was the lion on the right side of the angel’s head, from the angel’s [human-faced] point of view? In other words, was the lion “stage right” of the angels head, or was it “stage left?”
